For the past 7 days, I’ve been speaking at a summer camp in South/Central Texas. It’s been an incredible week. I love this camp. But it’s Texas and this place is hot.
I’ve been going to camp for well over 20 years. I have all kinds of experience at camps all over the United States, but I must tell you, there’s nothing like camp in Texas. It’s not my birthday

So, yesterday I got punked by my own prank. It was so funny. At lunch yesterday, I told everyone about a great new facebook prank to play. I recently learned it and hadn’t tried it yet. If you can hop on someone’s computer when they’re not on it, get on their Facebook account and change their birthday to today. Later in the day, they’ll find out what you’ve done after they have dozens of “happy birthday” comments.
Well, yesterday during the main afternoon session, I spent the entire time meeting and talking with people. While away from my computer, some other blogger (Jonathan Cliff) changed my birthday. I can’t wait until Friday!

I’m almost two weeks late to one of the biggest social media inspired viral videos of all time. This instance of social media explosion is very different from many others. It’s a music video from a 14 year old girl whose song is so bad, people are spreading the word on how bad it is. Already she’s been on Leno, several other morning shows and the like. Although it’s probably not the exposure you want, it is exposure. At least for a while, people are going to know who Rebecca Black is. Sign Wednesday: In honor of Matt McKee

Although he doesn’t do Sign Wednesday as often as he used to, I took this picture months ago and figured this would be right in line with McKee’s Sign Wednesday series. The fun part is that this sign perfectly fits the culture of Austin, TX. I took this picture this Summer while getting an Ice Cream at Amy’s Ice Cream. If you’re visiting Austin, you’re visit is not complete without stopping in at Amy’s. If you don’t believe me, ask Michael Chanley.

A phrase I’m not saying anymore

Call me strange, but sometimes I re-analyze the words that come out of my mouth. At times I ask myself, “Do I even know what that means?” Or I ask myself, “Does that even mean what I think it means.” I think I became more self aware when be began teaching baptism classes for kids and I talk about words like “Lord,” Confess” and Saved” as words that kids often hear and even say but don’t have any idea what they mean. It’s funny, really.
So, a few years ago I was praying with someone and we prayed a hedge of protection around them for safety. I think they may have been traveling or something. I can’t even remember if I prayed it or not.… Read the rest
