Values terminology help
Posted on 04. Aug, 2009 by Kenny in Inspiration, Leadership
Okay, I’ve been working on our ministries vision, mission and values. We’ve settled on our values, but I need help witht he wording with one of them. Currently our values are:
- Safety and Security
- Relevant Teaching
- Engaging Environments
- Authenticity
- Excellence
- Creativity and Innovation
- Biblical Reliance
- Worship
- Communication
My problem is that I don’t like “Biblical Reliance.” As a value, I want our kids to rely and depend on God’s word, that they know and love God’s word. However, Biblical Reliance or Biblical Dependence don’t do it for me. What do you think? Any ideas?

i would do something more like Biblical Living. it’s one thing to rely on or know God’s Word (which is an awesome thing!) but you need kids to be living it out. Taking Gods Word and doing it!
good luck! how are things @ Gateway? No Perfect People Allowed is one of my all time fav books…i think i may need to do a re-read very soon.

Biblical standards, foundation, worldview, or assurance
Bible-centered
Bible-based
Although I am a fan of the world obsessed, I would like it better in reference to God. And I also like Jonathan’s total rewording too.

These are all really good. i’m going to have to work on these with my team. If you still have more ideas, send them my way. There hasn’t been one yet that’s just struck me over the head saying “PICK ME!” but it might still be in there.
Thanks again everyone!

just to throw my 2 cents in…
just make sure if you plan on putting these values in any form where it won’t be clearly described or explained then you might want to make sure that it can be understood by reading the phrase.
I know that there is not ring to “Biblical Reliance” but I think that it clearly states the value and people would get it.
anyway just two cents…
Biblical Assent
I like the word assent but i’m a word geek.
