Yes, this is an Orange Conference promotional post. Yes, today is the last day to register before the price goes up. However, I write this post because I care. Ha! No, really.

For seven years I’ve written nearly 2000 post with the intent to inspire and encourage those who work with kids. If I had to boil down ministry to kids into two or three “most important things” I would definitely include learning/development into one of those “most important things.” I think that is why I’m such a big fan of the Orange Conference. I come home every year tired, overwhelmed (in the best way possible), over-packed (somehow my suitcase grows) and inspired.

I believe that I have one of the most important jobs in the world. I believe that you do as well. There are a lot of things that I’m not very good at. I get stuck in certain aspects of my job. There are things I have questions about. Now you answer this question for me. If 5,000 of the greatest ministry minds and practitioners of what I do are all gathered in the same space for 3-4 days – I’d be an idiot not to go, right? I don’t think it matters what you feel about curriculum, strategy, philosophy or denomination. There are people who do what you do better than you do and the best way to invest in your ministry is to connect, network and learn from those people. I’m telling you, there’s nothing like it.

My first Orange Conference was just before I took a new ministry position. I paid for it out of my own pocket and I believe that it was one of the best investments I ever made into my ministry. To this day, I still remember some of the breakouts, conversations and sessions I learned from.

I’ll be at the Orange Conference this April and I hope to meet you there. I have questions and I believe you might have the answers I’m looking for. What questions do you have?
