[...] After the superbowl in 2009, John Mullis (@johnincolorado) tweeted me asking me if there was a hash tag for children’s ministry. There were a lot of us children’s ministry leaders on twitter that night goofing off on twitter in conjunction with the superbowl. I was intrigued, so the next morning I wrote this post on the blog. [...]

just talking with <a href="http://www.steveandamysly.com" rel="nofollow">a friend</a> and he suggests just overtaking the #cm hashtag, which when I think of it... is probably not a bad idea. Why not? It's short.

Hashtags are always in a state of flux, thus no one really "owns" them. Thus, you could repurpose a tag that has been used in the past if the populous decides to do so.

#CM is already taken with something... not sure what

I vote for #KidMin... I agree with Jason that this is probably the shortest hashtag without losing meaning.

Characters count in twitter, so the shorter the better, #CM would be great if not already in use. I just hate how many clicks # is on the iphone. Otherwise we can use #becausejesusloveschildren :)

I'd say kidsmin....while I like CM and prefer the shortness, my wife said she thought I was secretly scrap booking when I kept mentioning CM tweets....CM could also mean the Creative Memories group of peeps.

In a nutshell...a hashtag is simply a search term, a shortened word which has the # sign in front of it. This creates a sort of group or catagory that can be searched for in twitter search using that tag to see all tweets in that catagory whether you follow someone or not.

You can also use tweetchat.com with that same hashtag for the room to see all tweets happen live that have the hastag...it will also put the hashtag on your tweet for you.

I would say #KidMin as that is 7 characters about as short as you can get and not lose meaning.

We used it for the innovation3 conference by putting #i3.

I would suggest keeping it short as it takes from the 140 characters.

Jason Curlee’s last blog post..<a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/MakingDifferenceMakers/~3/530051431/ask-twitter-what-is-twitter.html" rel="nofollow">Ask Twitter: What Is Twitter</a>
