Hey Kidmin friends! It’s that time of year again. Time to pay the piper… I mean Uncle Sam. If you’re in full time ministry, taxes aren’t easy. Self-employment taxes, social security issues, housing allowance, milage and all the other complicated pieces of the puzzle you have to mess with. The result ends up being that tax time becomes either really complicated or really expensive. Over the years, I’ve learned that many of my kidmin friends have a “tax-connection” where they have a friend or professional that gives them a great deal. That’s awesome! For those who don’t, I’ve got a special connection for you!

My parents run “TC Tax Service” in Valdosta, GA. They’re celebrating their 10th year owning TC Tax. My mom is an enrolled agent (highest designation a tax preparer can attain), meaning that she can represent her clients directly to the IRS over disputes. Best of all, my parents specialize in clergy tax. They’ve been doing my taxes ever since I went into ministry and over the years, they’ve picked up a heavy load of pastors and missionaries. The average preparer at your local H&R Block or Liberty Tax probably isn’t going to know the tax code that affects those of us in clergy. Even a seasoned CPA may not do enough clergy returns to know all the ins and out (especially with frequent changes to the tax code that affect us).

Lastly, my parents have been very successful with their tax preparation business and they consider taking care of pastors and missionaries as their ministry. Anyone who serves in kidmin in any capacity that I send there way can get their taxes done for $100. Usually, you’ll pay a minimum of $300 for a clergy return, but it’s often far more than that. Even if you feel like you’ve got a good deal going now, my parents will be happy to look at your return to make sure it’s been done right.

Not a bad deal, huh? I love that many from the childrensministryonline.com community have connected with my parents and continue to call them up every year at tax time.

If you’re interested, check them out at tctaxservice.com. Let them know that I sent you and you’ll get the red carpet treatment. Seriously, my mom will probably tell you embarrassing stories about me from when I was a baby. I hope this connection can be a blessing to you and your family!
