I’ve noticed something about the top 100 church blogs

The other day I bumped into Kent Shaffer’s list of top church blogs. Many of them I follow or at least visit occasionally. Several of them I’ve never heard of. This list isn’t Kent’s favorite blogs, it’s determined by readership subscriptions, page ranks, technorati ranks, and several other factors. They’re on the list because they have thousands of readers.
Here’s something interesting I noticed. Just a few years ago, these blogs didn’t exist. This type of information was typically distributed in magazines. Most of these blog authors would be regularly featured in ministry magazines. I’m simply amazed by how much more information is available to us today as opposed to a few years ago when magazines had the sole responsibility of distributing this kind of information.… Read the rest

What I’m reading

It’s been about a year ago since I posted what I’m reading. The last time I did it, I spent an hour typing out and linking all the blogs I read. I think that’s why it’s been a year since I’ve updated the list on this blog. However I just found out about Google Reader’s bundles. It made this process so much easier.
Right now I subscribe to 33 blogs about Children’s and Student Ministry. I subscribe to blog from different categories as well, but if I only have a limited amount of time to read blogs, I usually hit this list first. Here the are.
Here’s the beauty of the bundle. On the page I linked to, you can click on each blog in the list and go to that blog page or you can click the “subscribe” button and it will add all 33 blogs to your google reader account in a nice little folder called “Blogs Kenny’s Reading.” How cool is that?… Read the rest

What (blogs) I’m reading

Like I said, I’m doing a lot of reading now days. However, for the past several months my blog subscription has gotten pretty big (at least by my standards). During the week of Orange and the week after, I did not keep up with reading the blogs I subscribe to. Finally, the next week, it took me four hours one night to catch up. I did a lot of skimming, but I just can’t stand to miss anything.
I really need to update my blogroll. However, I thought I’d share what blogs I read right now. I remembered how when I first got into blogging, I searched the Internet both high and low to find all the CM blogs. However, I find that I don’t put nearly as much effort into finding new blogs… but I really should.… Read the rest
