Oops! Major email typo
Posted on 02. Oct, 2008 by Kenny.
Yesterday’s post reminded me of a very funny typo from an email I sent out last year. I was working at Cross Timber Community Church and we were getting ready of Venture Quest (our version of VBS). We had close to 1000 kids registered and I was sending an email out to all the parents of the kids, close to 1500 emails.
The email had instructions on what the week would look like, what they should expect and how they could be prepared to have the best experience possible.
I’m smart enough to know that before sending an email out to that many people, I should have the email proofed. So I typed up the email and sent it to my assistant.… Read the rest

Oops! Email typo

Since I’ve arrived at Gateway a few months ago I’ve made it a point to communicate with parents just about every week. Many changes were in process and it’s very important that all of our parents feel informed and like they are in the loop. One of the ways I communicate is through a weekly constant contact email that points to posts on the Children’s Ministry blog.
Just last week I was sending out the weekly email and I was in a rush. I was trying to tie up all my loose ends before going on vacation and I had a deadline. Subscribing to this blog: Email
Posted on 22. Jul, 2008 by Kenny.
Yesterday I wrote about RSS. Really, it’s the best way to follow blogs and news sites. However, you may not want to hassle with creating a reader account (really, it is easy). If that is you, then I’ve created an even easier method. You can subscribe to my blog via email. That means you’ll get all blog updates sent to you as an email. Once a day (If I wrote anything new that day) an email will be sent with all posts written in the previous 24 hours. It’s just too easy.
So, if you want to subscribe this way, just look for the subscription box where you enter your email address.
Caution: About one in ten who sign up this way neglect to confirm their email.… Read the rest

Creating a better Outlook experience
Posted on 10. Jul, 2008 by Kenny.
A good friend passed this on to me last week. I finally installed it on my computer last night (it’s free). Now I wish I had done this earlier.
When I was between jobs, I stopped using Outlook. The only reason I used Outlook was because at church we usually had an exchange server and we could take advantage of email, calendar sharing, tasks and all the other things that come with Outlook. However, since I wasn’t a part of all of that, I just used my gmail account. As soon as I came on staff at Gateway, I started using Outlook again. I immediately missed using gmail as my primary email. The search function of gmail is so amazing and it absolutely puts Outlook to shame.… Read the rest
