Eye-Fi products keep getting better and better

You may have read about my love for Eye-Fi wireless cards. I’ve owned one for more than a year and I’m a huge fan. To be honest, I think it’s one of the most innovative pieces of technology I’ve bought in the last two years. In January they released a new card with all the bells and whistles. Not only could it upload pictures wireless from your camera, but it could upload videos and after uploading, pictures and videos would automatically be removed to make room for more on the card. The only ready I didn’t buy this card then was the price tag. It was the Pro card and I was going to have to save up.

Not anymore. Eye-Fi just released a new line of cards. The one I have my eye on is the Connect X2. It is a 4GB card that does all the things I mentioned above. Best of all, it only cost $49. You’d be crazy to not get one of these. CRAZY!

The explore feature is getting pretty good too. You can buy an explore card or upgrade the Connect x2, but it allows you to upload your photos automatically at Starbucks, MacDonalds, hotels and hundreds of thousands of other places. All of that for only $30 for the year I think.

If you haven’t considered getting one of these yet, you really should. Go ahead and order one here!

Thanks for the feedback on the blog and twitter. Seems like everyone liked. Matt McKee helped me with some design tweeks and I feel it’s a better sign now. Thanks so much Matt! I’ll be taking this out to print in an hour or so. Feel free to critique more if you’d like… I could get it in time.

BTW, this was designed in Illustrator. I’ve been a Photoshop geek for nealry 10 years, but now I’m trying to learn to use Illustrator. I barely know what I’m doing, but I think I like it. Photoshop isn’t the best program for desiging signs or banners… I just needed to make the switch for my larger design jobs.

Hey, what do you think of my Easter sign? It’s a 30 x 20 inch sign to be displayed on an easel during our Easter services. It will be located where we will be taking free family portraits. I’m having this printed late Friday morning, so let me know what you think ASAP. Is there anything you’d change?

This week Titus went to the sitter’s house while Sara went to a meeting. The sitter is a friend of ours as well as a photographer. Later that day she send me this link. How awesome is that?

I rarely post pictures of my family on this blog. So here is my little boy that makes his daddy so proud!

Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep

Gaddis22Here is a link to a web site my wife came across the other day. CAUTION! Don’t got there yet… let me prep you as you may not want to go there. Trust me!

My wife met someone recently who is a volunteer photographer for a foundation called “Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep.” I had no idea anything like this existed and it’s simply powerful. Perhaps there are photographers at your church who’d be willing to volunteer for something like this. I can think of few things more touching that this.

Here’s the deal. Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep is a network of volunteer photographers who go to hospitals and homes to take pictures of children who have passed away shortly after birth or are are going to die due to a complication or illness. Most of these parents will only enjoy holding their child in their arms for minutes to days and these photographers provide beautiful memories that the parents can cherish forever. These aren’t morbid or disturbing photos, but beautiful and touching scenes.

I’ll caution you though, viewing these photos will absolutely rip your heart out. If you’re up to it, I do encourage you to visit the link, view the pictures and read the stories from these parents who lost their children. I’m not an overly emotional man, but I was fighting back the tears. Sara and I lost babies at 8 and 10 weeks. When we got pregnant with Titus, we were on pins and needles at every doctor visit. On the day of delivery, I was holding my breath. I really knew he was going to be healthy and strong, but true joy and relief came when I saw him suck in air and let out that beautiful little cry! How precious is life? Isn’t it a miracle? I think I’m going to go grab my little boy out of bed and give him a hugs and kisses!
