I have found to keep me from paying I use dropbox for certain things only. But couple this with my external HD and iDisk and the Google suite these have been a great combo. As for sugarsync I use to spout their praises and still think it is good but ended up having to many issues and they outweighed what I was getting for results from sugarsync. Sugar sync had a huge advantage over dropbox in the way that DB only takes things you put there, SS synced kept real time syncs across multiple computers without me ever having to think about it.
