Since the turn of the century, cell phones have become ubiquitous. It’s hard to even remember what life was like before having access to everyone and anyone 24/7. 2007 was the first year that Americans sent and received more texts than made phone calls. The most popular app on our phones isn’t Instagram or Spotify, it’s your text messenger app.

DID YOU KNOW?

81% of Americans text on a monthly basis.
8.5 billion texts are sent each day in the U.S.
Email has a 20-30% open rate.
Text has a 98% open rate.
90% of texts being read within 3 seconds.

THREE SECONDS!

Please tell me why most churches and ministries have NO strategy for texting.

Sure, you send out individual texts to volunteers because you can get a quicker response than from email.
Sure you may have a group text with some of your key leaders, which is super important.

…but that’s not what we’re talking about.

WHAT IS YOUR STRATEGY

for communicating to all your volunteers quickly and efficiently through SMS?
for connecting with new families about classes, resources or opportunities through text?
for distributing important content outside of the world of email?

CRICKETS…

I actually understand. Developing a texting strategy is complicated. Software and services aren’t always user-friendly. Most people don’t even know where to start. I didn’t even know where to start. Really, I just stumbled across a website that would open the door to the strategy I use now.

Of all the “Ministry Hacks” I’ve discovered, this might be my very favorite. I use this tool every week, and it’s increased communication engagement significantly.

LET ME BE CLEAR...

There are many text-based resources and technologies available
This particular resource probably will NOT provide a COMPREHENSIVE texting strategy
How you use this tool and it’s effectiveness will depend on how you use it (and is limited only by your creativity)
