Unfortunately I may have missed the really great deals of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but I’m hoping for some other great deals before the end of the year.
In our early childhood department at church is making some changes for 2009 and I need to put some LCD TV’s in our rooms. Basically, I need to buy and install 7, maybe 8. I could have sworn that I saw one in a Black Friday ad for as low as $599. We’re not showing Blue Ray movies, so it can be a simple Vizio or similar 720P. I can find several 32 inch LCD’s for $400 and several 42 inch LCD’s for $700, and most of those are 1080P. So, I’m looking for a 720P for under $500 and I’d prefer to pick it up locally so I don’t pay out the nose in shipping.
Maybe I’m stretching here, but would a local store negotiate the price a little bit since I’m buying so many LCD’s.
Any thoughts? Any help?
Hey Kenny,
Mitch from Fellowship did that. He went to some stores, and got a deal b/c he was buying so many. Also you can try direct from the manufacturer, they may cut a deal since you are buying so many. Mitch did tell me a store like Starpower was more interested in dealing than Best Buy, but you can give it a shot. I would say call and ask first before making many trips.
Our middle school folks went to Circuit City and were able to negotiate some too…you might also be able to do the wal-mart site to store thing and save the shipping costs that way…i am sure that wal-mart does not negotiate price however.
I talked Target down $200 when I bought one TV this summer. Walked out with a 42″ Olevia LCD 1080p for $700.
Never hurts to ask, and always ask the manager of the entire store.
Do you have Video Only where you are? If so, I heard they have 42″ TVs for as low as 649.
We just bought two 42″ Sharps with 1080p for our new classroom for $700 each through Costco
I just happened to be checking on something I ordered from Walmart online today… and saw they are having a post-black-Friday ‘sale’ again this Saturday(12/6/08)… included in the sale is a Sanyo 42″ LCD tv for $598. Check out walmart.com for the ad…
If you hurry, Sears is currently running a sale online for the Panasonic Viera (one of the highest rated flat panels) 42″ Plasma for $599 — I think until the 12th. The other night, they had a Midnight Madness sale for an extra 10% off, but they were out of stock for local pick up in my area, Utah, though I don’t know if it would be the same for you. I also got the code for an extra $5 off, which dropped it to $524. Delivery was so expensive though, it took the price back up to $700 with tax. However, the sale price was an ONLINE ONLY deal… but, because of this sale, you may be able to go into your local Sears and negotiate with a manager — go up as high as you can. Be sure to explain that you are buying quantity, and for whom. I am pretty sure they will be willing to drop the price… see if they will be willing to drop to around $500 or less per unit Start by asking if they could give you a deal that was as good as or better than the online sale; then ask how much for the quantity. Then, if higher than $450, ask if they could sell you units for around $450 per unit, then work up. $500 is reasonable, given the online sale and the state of the economy. Currently, retailers are feeling the pinch and are more flexible than ever in dealing, especially in volume. Good luck, and let me know how it goes. God bless. Oh, and be sure to ask Our Lord to go in with you.
Kenny, I believe I have found an even better deal for you. I found several sources that will sell either Plasma or LCD from various manufacturers with the price for 1-10 units for $350 to $700 for HDTVs from 32″ to 52″. They have a 42″ & a 46″ Panasonic for $350. And, as I understand it, will give a discount for quantity. I would rather not post this info here, however can I call you or email you with the information?
